PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GROUP
From Student to Psychologist
Professional Skills for Psychology Doctoral Students
A skill-building and identity-focused group for doctoral candidates preparing for early professional life.
Now comes the part no one teaches you: becoming the psychologist in the room, on paper, and in an interview.
This 8-week experiential and psychoeducational group is designed for doctoral students seeking to polish their professional skills and build a professional identity.. You’ll learn to articulate your therapeutic orientation, refine your conceptualization skills, and master the interview process—but more than that, you’ll begin the deeper transition from student to professional.
Because there’s a gap in most programs.
And what fills that gap is not more achievement—it’s clarity, confidence, and integration.
TAKE THE NEXT STEP
You are doing the academic and clinical work and the hours …
In this group, you will learn:
Develop your therapeutic elevator pitch and learn how to speak your clinical voice under pressure
Identify and sharpen your primary therapeutic orientation and conceptualization mode (with case-based practice)
Practice answering difficult questions, including those around fit, gaps, countertransference, and interpersonal style
Learn to navigate the unspoken dynamics of power, identify, and professional positioning
Begin bridging the mindset shift from performance-based identity to professionally grounded self
This is not a supervision group.
This is a guided, supportive, and strategic forum for the psychology student who is ready to become the professional.
You’ve done the hours. Now do the integration.
